Pediatric Medical Questions

Q: What do I do? It’s Saturday evening and my child is sick, but I don’t know if it’s an emergency or not.
A: Relax. Just call us. All Better Pediatrics does not operate through an answering service. Count on speaking to a licensed professional 24/7/365 days a year. Dr. Folz and Dr. Welch are willing and able to answer any questions you might have, even if it’s after hours.

Q. What types of insurance do you accept?
A: We accept all insurance coverage EXCEPT TNcare.

Q: My child is sick, how long will I have to wait until the doctor sees us?
A: All sick patients are seen the same day. Just call us, and we will set you up for the next available opening, so you and your child start feeling all better.

Q: Once I get to your office, will I be waiting for hours to see the doctor?
A: At All Better Pediatrics, we value your time. Generally, since Dr. Folz and Dr. Welch work as a team, all patients are in and out in about an hour.

Q: What is a pre-birth tour?
A: A private, scheduled, one-on-one guided tour of our practice with Dr. Folz. At this time, the expectant mommy can see the facility, meet and greet the staff and get to know our down-to-earth approach to healthcare.

Q: How can I schedule a pre-birth tour?
A: Easy. You can call us directly at 901-761-1880 and schedule an appointment. Dads are welcome, too!

Q. I have so many questions about caring for my baby. Where can I get some quick, useful information?
A: All Better Pediatrics offers a simple, easy-to-read “newborn instruction manual” which you can download. It will guide you step by step through several important topics. Soon, you will be on your way to giving your baby lots of TLC.

Q: If I am having difficulty or pain breastfeeding, is there someone I can talk to?
A: Yes. Dr. Folz is a board-certified pediatrician and Licensed Lactation Consultant. Currently, we are the only medical office in Memphis to provide breastfeeding/lactation services on-site.

Are Breastfeeding visits covered by Insurance?

Yes, breastfeeding visits are covered by all private insurance plans subject to any coinsurance or deductible payments required by the policy.

There are two common types of breastfeeding visits:

  1. Well visits: A well breastfeeding visit is when mom and baby see Dr. Folz for a regularly scheduled well visit. During this visit Dr. Folz checks the baby to assure that they are well and meeting milestones, provides any required breastfeeding assistance, and directs our staff to administer any required vaccines.
  2. Sick visits/Feeding problems of a newborn: A “sick” visit scheduled specifically to address breast feeding issues is an opportunity, separate from well visits, for mom and baby to meet with Dr. Folz. A breastfeeding visit involves Dr. Folz assessing the breastfeeding issues and developing an individual plan of care to help mom and baby accomplish breastfeeding success.
